In Libya DEA has been active since 2003. Currently, DEA employs a small team in Tripoli and Benghazi, monitoring the situation and E&P business conditions in the country very closely.

The licences in the Libyan desert

DEA is operator of three concessions in the country, with a share of 100%. The total concession area has a size of 14,235 square kilometres. Two of the licences are in the Sirte Basin (NC 193 and NC 195), while one concession on the Cyrenaica platform (Area 58) is located in the northeast of the country.

The exploration measures taken by DEA in NC 193 and NC 195 in the Libyan Sirte Basin in the years up to 2010 have been successful, with a total of eight commercial discoveries. In concession Area 58, granted in January 2008, DEA acquired 2D seismic data for a total of 4,600 kilometres.
