The EAGE 2017 comes to an end – Time for a summary
Watch the movie about our subsurface game with Dr Tillmann Roth, Senior Expert Seismic Processing at DEA:
After three days, the organisers as well as DEA can draw a very positive conclusion from the 79th EAGE Conference & Exhibition in Paris. With about 5,200 attendees, the number of visitors increased in comparison to last year. They enjoyed more than 1,000 expert lectures in the technical conference programme.
For DEA, Dr Marc Giba was part of the programme today with his presentation "Capturing structural uncertainty in fault seal analyses - a multi-throw approach".
We are happy about all the positive feedback during the three days and say goodbye from Paris.

DEA's booth presentations attract the fair visitors
Uwe Balasus-Lange, Head of OpCo Germany/Denmark at DEA, about DEA's appearance at the EAGE:
The second day of the EAGE started with Dr Florian Bremer and his presentation "History of a duo lateral Well in the Mittelplate Oilfield Germany, from plan to perforation" at the DEA booth. Shortly afterwards, he gave this presentation as part of the technical conference programme and was able to share his know-how about one of DEA's key projects with the conference audience. DEA is operator of Germany's largest and most productive oil field Mittelplate. At Mittelplate, the company produces in a safe and sustainable manner valuable resources for the German energy market.
Following up on this, Max Scholze (DMT Petrologic) presented the topic "Removing Reservoir Masking Multiples at Mittelplate" at the DEA booth.
The day was completed by Dr Hartmut Jäger (GeoResources) and his presentation "Multi-phase thermal history and its impact on hydrocarbon development (Reggane Basin, Algeria)". Besides Egypt, Algeria is another core country for DEA in North Africa. DEA is an active partner in the Reggane Nord project in the Algerian Sahara. The project comprises six gas fields under development. Production start is planned for this year.

The EAGE has officially started!
Since today, the EAGE is in full swing. The comprehensive conference programme has begun and the exhibition proves to be very popular again this year.
Dr Tillmann Roth, Senior Expert Seismic Processing at DEA, on the first day of the EAGE:
The day started with the EAGE forum on "New Collaboration Models within the Exploration Domain". In this top-level forum, among others, Luca Bertelli, Chief Exploration Officer of Eni, and Howard Leach, Head of Exploration at BP discussed new collaboration models within exploration. The focus of the discussion was on an effective collaboration with NOCs, IOCs as well as governments and regulators to shorten cycle times from exploration to first production. A good and very current DEA example in this regard is the West Nile Delta project, where production commenced in March just about two years after the signing of the final agreements.
At the DEA booth a lot is happening as well. To start the day off, Dr Marc Giba gave his presentation from the conference programme "Capturing structural uncertainty in fault seal analyses - a multi-throw approach" this morning.
The interactive elements at the DEA booth "Do you know your rocks?" and "Do you know your subsurface?" are very popular. In these games, the visitors can prove their expertise and can match logs to core pieces as well as match seismics to existing DEA key projects. This always leads to interesting discussions, in which the DEA experts inform the booth visitors in detail about our core projects in Germany, Norway, Egypt and Algeria.
The presentation by Dr Florian Bremer "History of a duo lateral Well in the Mittelplate Oilfield Germany, from plan to perforation" in the technical conference programme had to be postponed until tomorrow due to a power outage.

The traditional Icebreaker event started the 79th annual conference of the EAGE in Paris on Monday evening. In numerous lectures, poster sessions, workshops and, of course, at the DEA booth, the current topics of relevance to the industry will be discussed.
Markus Mohr, Senior Expert Geology at DEA:
“The theme of this year's event is 'Energy, Technology, Sustainability - Time to open a new chapter'. I personally look forward to interesting lectures and good expert discussions, which should give impulses on how such a new chapter can be designed. The multi-faceted participant structure at this event is made up of international E&P companies, national oil companies, the service industry, science and research, and, of course, the young generation. This gives the EAGE meeting its unique character and makes it a platform for this important and valuable exchange.”
