In 2013, DEA concluded an agreement with operator Repsol to enter into the Kanuku licence, off the coast of Guyana, with a share of 30 per cent. Highly promising survey region off the coast

The Kanuku Block is a high potential exploration opportunity with prospective hydrocarbon structures from the Cretaceous period with water depths ranging from shallow waters to 200 metres.

In December 2013, the acquisition of 2D seismic data covering 860 kilometres and 3D data covering an area of around 3,200 square kilometres was successfully completed for the Kanuku licence. Once the seismic data was processed, it was analysed jointly with existing 3D data. The aim is to have identified potential hydrocarbon reserves.
