Suriname
In June 2013, DEA signed a farm-in agreement to enter the licence Block 52 off the coast of Suriname. The licence area measures 4,743 square kilometres and is located in the Suriname-Guyana Basin, around 120 kilometres off the north-eastern coast of South America. The water in this prospective exploration area with potential hydrocarbon structures in the Upper Cretaceous strata is between 100 and 1,000 metres deep.
Exploration off the coast
Between the end of September and the start of November 2013, we acquired 3D data covering 1,800 square kilometres as part of a seismic survey campaign off the coast of Suriname jointly with our partner PETRONAS.
Drilling of one exploration well is planned for the three-year exploration period. DEA holds a 40 per cent share in the licence, while PETRONAS is the operator with a share of 60 per cent.
