Our responsibility
Safety and protection of the environment
We act with great responsibility towards man and the environment. For that reason health and safety at work are accorded high status in our company. We organise health and safety days several times a year. In addition our managers, safety officers and occupational health practitioners regularly instruct our employees with regard to possible risks and accidents at the workplace.
Environmental protection is also a matter of great importance to us. In all our activities we are constantly looking for solutions that will reduce possible environmental pollutant emissions, waste, noise and energy and resource consumption. By conducting comprehensive environmental studies, we establish in advance any possible consequences of our projects, so that effects on flora and fauna can be minimised. We also coordinate closely with the responsible approval authorities. In this way, we manage to reconcile economics and ecology, even in sensitive areas.
Social engagement
Volunteering for a good cause: We support our employees who take on responsibility in their social environment. We support charitable projects in a non-bureaucratic manner in the areas of education and training, social welfare, sport, culture, energy and protection of the environment and nature. It is a condition that our employees make an active contribution to the project. The projects supported to date range from the equipment of schools in Hamburg to a car rally from the Allgäu to Jordan for the benefit of the aid organisation Welthungerhilfe.
For many years we have been helping socially disadvantaged people in the vicinity of our locations. At our locations both at home and abroad we see ourselves as an active part of society and we want to be a socially committed partner. For example, we support a school for the blind in Libya as well as primary schools and adult education in Egypt. By improving the learning environment, it is our intention to contribute to optimising the education and quality of life of Egyptian schoolchildren.
Our sponsorship projects also extend into the cultural sector. Since 2000, for example, we have been offering scholarships to Norwegian music students. In this way, we want to make a contribution to cultural and academic exchange between Norway and Germany.
